Overview

Azzaden Valley Trek: 2 Days, 1 Night
Wanna get away from the hustle and dive into something real? This 2-day trek in the High Atlas Mountains is calling your name. Picture this: you’re trekking in Toubkal, surrounded by rugged peaks, wandering through little Berber villages where life feels untouched by time. You’ll see Mount Toubkal—Morocco’s tallest mountain—looming overhead, meet some friendliest locals, and soak up vibes you won’t find anywhere else. It’s raw, it’s beautiful, and it’s just you and the mountains.

Here’s the Plan
We start with a chill drive from Marrakech, cruising past tiny villages and Berber hamlets tucked into the Western High Atlas Mountains. You’ll roll into Imlil, the jumping-off point for all things Toubkal, and from there, it’s go time. Day 1 has you trekking past places like Arghen and M’zzik, with old-school terraced fields full of fruit trees and veggies stretching out below. You’ll tackle the Tizi M’zzik pass (2450m)—trust me, the view of Mount Toubkal from up there is worth every step—then drop down through juniper trees to crash for the night in Tizi Oussem.
Day 2 is all about the Azzaden Valley. You’ll wander through more Berber spots, climb up to the Tizi Oudite pass, and roll down to Aguersiouâl. Picture a lazy lunch by the river, then a final stretch back through the Imlil Valley with Mount Toubkal waving goodbye. By late afternoon, you’re back in Marrakech, probably already plotting your next trek.
What’s So Cool About It
  • Trekking in Toubkal with epic High Atlas Mountain views
  • Getting up close to Mount Toubkal, the king of Moroccan peaks
  • Hanging out in Berber villages—real people, real stories
  • Snapping pics you’ll be showing off for years
Day-by-Day Breakdown
Day 1: Marrakech to Imlil – Tizi M’zzik – Tamsoulte Waterfalls – Tizi Oussem
After breakfast in Marrakech, we’ll pick you up and head out through Tahannaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni—little stops with killer views along the way. About 65km later, you meet your guide and muleteer in Imlil (1740m). Then it’s off into the High Atlas Mountains! First up, you’ll climb Tizi M’zzik (2684m)—the Imlil Valley and Mount Toubkal look unreal from here. Next, swing by Tamsoulte to check out the tallest waterfalls in the Atlas (100m high!), then ease down through juniper trees to Tizi Oussem (1850m). You’ll spend the night in a guesthouse there—nothing fancy, just good vibes. Around 6 hours of walking.
Day 2: Tizi Oussem – Tizi Oudid – Aguersiouâl – Back to Marrakech
Wake up to sunshine and that mountain air. After breakfast, you’ll trek from Tizi Oussem to Id Issa village, then push up to Tizi Oudid pass (2000m). You’ll cut through Mattat, with wild juniper all around, and stop for lunch under some walnut trees by the river—perfect spot to chill. In the afternoon, we’ll head back through the Imlil Valley, Mount Toubkal still watching over us, and get you back to Marrakech by around 5 PM. About 5 hours of walking.
Heads Up: This is the rough plan—weather or whatever might shake things up a bit, but we’ll roll with it!
Why You’ll Love This
  • Two days of pure High Atlas Mountain goodness
  • Mount Toubkal front and center, stealing the show
  • A taste of Berber life you won’t get from a guidebook
