Day 2
Imlil to Toubkal Refuge – Deep into the High Atlas
Morning: Wake at 7 AM to a Berber breakfast that hits all the spots: msemen (flaky pancakes), boiled eggs, khobz, honey, and more mint tea to fuel your trekking in Toubkal. By 8 AM, we’re off, mules loaded with your duffel bags. The trail kicks off in Imlil, passing Berber villages like Aroumd (1940m) and their terraced fields. You’ll cross the Mizane Valley and hit the Sidi Chamharouch shrine (2350m), a Berber pilgrimage site marked by a white rock.
The path gets rockier, climbing steadily with Toubkal’s peaks teasing you. It’s not technical, but the altitude’s real—your guide keeps the pace chill to save your energy.
Lunch: Around noon, we stop by a stream or rocky perch—High Atlas views stealing the show. Our cook serves up a trekker’s lunch: khobz, veggie salad, lentils or tinned fish, and fruit like apples or dates. It’s simple, fresh, and perfect for trekking in Toubkal.
Afternoon: The climb continues to the Toubkal Refuge (3206m), aka Neltner Hut, reached by late afternoon. The landscape’s raw—think boulders and big skies. The refuge is basic (shared bunks, simple facilities) but buzzing with trekkers chasing Toubkal.
Evening: Dinner’s a warm Berber hug—maybe harira (lentil-tomato soup) to beat the chill, followed by veggie or chicken couscous, piled high with flavor. Mint tea wraps it up as you prep for summit day. Lights out early!

Day 3
Toubkal Summit and Back to Marrakech – The Ultimate Payoff
Early Morning: Summit day starts at 4 AM with a quick breakfast—khobz, jam, eggs, and coffee or tea to shake off the cold. By 5 AM, headlamps glowing, we begin the 3-4 hour climb to Toubkal’s summit (4167m). Trekking in Toubkal gets intense—steep trails, scree, and thin air—but your guide’s got you, pacing it slow and steady.
By 8-9 AM, you’re standing on Toubkal’s peak! Clear skies? You’ll see the High Atlas sprawl and maybe the Sahara’s haze. Celebrate with a packed snack—think a khobz sandwich with cheese, nuts, or fruit. Snap those summit pics and soak it in.
Mid-Morning to Afternoon: The descent’s a grind—4-5 hours back to the refuge for a quick breather and lunch. Our cook delivers: maybe a lamb tagine with prunes or veggie couscous to refuel. Then it’s 3-4 hours more down to Imlil, retracing past Sidi Chamharouch and Berber villages. You’ll feel the burn but also the buzz
of crushing Toubkal.
Evening: Back in Imlil by late afternoon, we’ll grab a quick mint tea or fresh orange juice before the 1.5-hour drive to Marrakech, dropping you at your hotel by 6-7 PM. Dinner’s on you tonight—hit a Marrakech spot to celebrate!
